Once again, Scouts from Braunton Sea Scouts took part in a kayaking expedition. In May half term, 12 scouts together with 4 leaders carried out the challenge to paddle the river Thames from Lechlade, near the river’s source, to Bovney Lock – a distance of 110 miles (that’s 177 km!). The expedition took five days with varying weather conditions from glorious sunshine to heavy downpours. Each scout embarked on the expedition with enthusiasm, determination and a fantastic attitude, representing their troop and the whole scouting organisation excellently. The scouts were required to be self sufficient for the week, carrying their own food, cooking equipment, tents and clothing in their kayaks. Well done to them all.
